Why I love portrait photography.

A lot of people ask me why I shoot portraits only.

I think the first picture that I took when I started to get more serious with photography was a portrait. A simple, easy portrait of my mom.

I remember looking at it and thinking "yep that's it. I love it and I am photographer now." But oh boy, I was so wrong.

But the feeling I had when I showed my mom the picture I just took, the feeling when she smiled and said that she actually likes it and that she doesn't look too bad - that's what is the same after all these years.

So when people ask me why I take portraits (only) I have this simple answer : I love to show people how beautiful they are.

It sounds super cliché to say that but it honestly is just that. I, myself disliked to stand in front of a camera (I still do but some people can create pure magic sometimes). Because I disliked the outcome of every single picture that someone took from me.

I felt like I am not the only one who felt like that when a camera was faces in their direction.

When I took that picture of my mom I knew that I want to change things up. To Get people in front of my lens because they want to

. Because they somehow trust me in a way. Because they know that they will like the outcome.

Portraits show the soul of people. The reflection in their eyes, their smile or the way the small little wrinkle frames the eye.

When a portrait is done properly you can tell how the person was feeling in that moment. You don't know the story that is behind that feeling but you can see the feeling. And when you can, you automatically start to think about the why and how.

Why is that person feeling like that?

My goal is to take as many pictures of as many different people as I can.

I want to show people that they are special and truly beautiful.

Every single of my portraits portraits you. Only you and your story without revealing anything of yourself.

The reason why I take portraits (only) is because I think that more people need to feel beautiful. And I want to capture that.
